We posted daily on TikTok for 90 days. Here’s what we learned.

September 17, 2024

With short form video leading the charge in all things social content, we leaned in and really tested what everyone preaches about short form platforms like TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and IG Reels: consistency. Here’s a breakdown of what we did, how we did it, and what we learned for our clients looking to take on short form content generation for their own brands.

We posted 3 times a day, every day. Yes, every day.

We scheduled and posted 3 videos a day to our TikTok account. The content was primarily focused on workforce entry advice, job seeking tips and advice for those looking to get into the agency world. The key to developing this large amount of content is to keep it as simple as possible and don’t overthink it. In this test, consistency was always more powerful than making every detail perfect.

We set up batch filming days.

For most, there is a challenge of getting the amount of content you need to maintain a schedule like this. To help alleviate this, we created a schedule where every two weeks, we set two hours of filming time. Each team member had 20 minutes to film their videos in the studio. We brainstormed, ideated and filmed our own content then dropped it in a shared Dropbox folder so we could post directly to social media. While it is a lift for those two hours for the entire team, we’d capture two weeks worth of content in a concentrated two-hour span, instead of scrambling to get content daily.

We created a content calendar and kept ourselves accountable.

It is easy to fall into the trap of thinking, “It’s OK if we just miss this one day.” But then one day turns into two, then into a week. For this experiment to work, we understood we needed to stay accountable. In our dedicated TikTok content calendar, each content slot was assigned to a team member who was responsible for creating, filming, and then linking that content in the calendar. Color coding helped all of us understand what content was missing, what needed to be rescheduled, or what could be repurposed.

We kept an eye on how small details affected our growth.

Switching up small elements of our posts every week helped us pinpoint a few key factors in post performance. Some of the factors we specifically looked at were trending sounds, adding captions, posting times and how strongly the hook of each video engaged the audience.

We saw a big return on our engagement, views and reach.

So, what’s the benefit of all this? TikTok rewards consistently showing up on their platform, big time. After 90 days, here are some of our growth statistics:

83.57% Reach Growth (End of Month 1 compared to Month 3)

85.89% Views Growth (End of Month 1 compared to Month 3)

1011.76% Likes Growth (End Month 1 compared to Month 3)

A Few Key Factors

Looking at the overarching numbers, we were able to identify a few key factors in some of this success:

  1. Adding captions works.
  2. Successful hooks followed by (actual) valuable tips help retain viewers.
  3. Posting during specific time frames help catch your ideal audience.
  4. Giving TikTok 3 months of time and content allowed the algorithm to find, and hone in on, our ideal audience most effectively.
