Do You Need a New Website?
July 28, 2025
It’s not always easy to know when it’s time for a new website. So, how do you know when it’s time for a website refresh or a complete overhaul? Here are some key questions to ask yourself to determine if your current website is truly serving your business goals.
Can it be updated easily?
Your website should be able to be updated easily and quickly. If only one or two people “hold the keys” to the website and can confidently make updates, it may be time for a system that works for your whole team. It should be a simple process to update your hours, change a few sentences, upload a blog post or swap out an image on your website.
Is the information organized in a way that make sense for users?
The menu on your website should be easy for users to follow and point them to the information they are looking for. If you get feedback users can’t find what they need or website updates have been pieced together over the years, it might be time to look at a re-organization of all the content.
Are the visuals fresh?
Your website should create an enjoyable experience for users (and you!). If your site doesn’t have a modern design, graphics that match your brand and a cohesive look and responsive between different devices a redesign could be best for you.
Is it showing up in search results?
When someone searches for the product or service you provide, your site should be showing up. To help, your site should have relevant keywords, headings and SEO best practices built in on the backend.
Are you seeing the conversions you’d expect?
Your website should be working for you all the time. If you’re not getting the form fills or phone calls, that could be a sign the site is not resonating with visitors.
Is the information relevant?
The information on your site should be accurate and up to date. Adding new content regularly helps signal to search engines that your site is active and relevant which helps increase your rank. It also gives users a reason to keep engaging with your content.
Does it load quickly?
We only have a few seconds to make an impression, and when a site loads slowly, users will click away. Video files hosted on the website and large image files can slow down a site and cause users to bounce.
Is your site mobile friendly?
It’s no surprise users are accessing website on their mobile device. We have clients who get 80%+ of their website traffic from mobile devices. If your site is not responsive, easy to navigate and quick to load, you will lose users.
